Mons Meg Lookout

What better way to complete your Castle of Light visit than to gaze over the magical view north over the New Town to the Firth of Forth and Fife beyond.

The medieval bombard Mons Meg has a barrel diameter of around 20 inches making it one of the largest canons in the World by calibre. With a range of approximately 2.6km it could deliver an 250kg payload about as far as the Botanic Gardens.

We don’t know how far a canonball Rex would get but we suspect not very far!
